    Longer Day discussion

Here's a document that RYH posted that gives schools guidelines on ways they can spend money for the 7 hour day.

One of my kids came home with a brochure called 'CPS Instructional Strategy'. It lists the amount of time different grades should be spending on each subject. I see that 6-8th graders should be spending 90 minutes on literacy, 80 minutes on math, and 60 minutes on science. We don't seem to be getting that, but we're getting more than the requirement of other subjects because the class periods are all the same length, and the kids go from teacher to teacher. How are other schools doing it?
