starting CPS preschool

My son is almost 2.5yrs old. He has Down Syndrome & will be getting all of his therapies at CPS. I'm wondering which schools have amazing Special Ed services & which ones do not. I know the default is his neighborhood school. At the same time, I'm curious to know other parents' experiences. Thanks! elena

Hi there! What neighborhood are you in? A friend of mine has a child with Down Syndrome who went to the preschool at Agassiz and they absolutely loved it. Agassiz is in Lakeview.

I have also heard great things about Stock school, which is much farther north.

CPS will assign you to the school closest to your house that has a program for him. If you visit that school and find that it doesn't meet his needs, you can request a change.

I have a neighbor whose grandchild has some learning problems and has been at Stock. She loves it there and they service her son well.
